Meet the Maker: Made by Bees

Meet the Maker: Made by Bees

Priscilla Everett’s interest in beekeeping began as an actvity she shared with her children, but her hobby and interest grew into her fully-fledged business, Made by Bees.

Priscilla and her bees are based in Brockville, Ontario, where she tends to her hives, makes products out of honey and wax, runs a summer day camp and elementary school workships, and endeavours to teach people of all ages about the critical role bees play in our ecosystem. Priscilla’s property is a bee-friendly haven, free of harmful pesticides. Land stewardship, sustainability, and bee advocacy are driving principles of Priscilla’s business. Something we love about Priscilla’s products are minimal waste packaging – less plastic in this world is always a good thing!

One of our best-selling Made by Bees products at Mrs. McGarrigle’s are their plastic-free food wraps. These handy wax-covered cloth wraps come in multiple sizes, are reusable and are a fantastic replacement for harmful plastic wrap. They smell faintly of sweet beeswax and come in several very pretty designs too.

In addition to beeswax wraps, we love Priscilla’s selection of honey, honeycomb, and we’re very excited that DIY was and bee pollinator wildflower seeds will soon be available for purchase.

Mrs. McGarrigle’s “Meet the Maker” series celebrate local food producers who care about making high-quality food products with locally and/or ethically sourced ingredients. We are proud to carry these products at Mrs. McGarrigle’s and to uplift our local economy.
